EB-C3 is a medical food from EBM Medical, formulated for the dietary management of mild cognitive impairment and early memory loss. It is not a vitamin off a shelf. Medical foods are their own FDA category, and they are meant to be taken under the ongoing supervision of a physician.
Dr. Burkenstock uses EB-C3 for patients whose memory complaints track back to elevated homocysteine or to a methylation pathway that is not running the way it should, and as nutritional support alongside a cholinesterase inhibitor.

Frequently Asked Questions
EB-C3 is a medical food from EBM Medical, formulated for the dietary management of mild cognitive impairment and early memory loss. It is used under the ongoing supervision of a physician, and it is also indicated as an adjunct to cholinesterase inhibitors and for patients with elevated homocysteine.
A medical food is its own FDA category, separate from both drugs and dietary supplements. It is formulated for the dietary management of a condition with distinctive nutritional requirements, and it is intended to be used under the ongoing supervision of a physician. That is why you will not find EB-C3 on a pharmacy shelf.
Each capsule supplies L-methylfolate calcium 6 mg, methylcobalamin 2 mg, N-acetyl-L-cysteine 600 mg, and pyridoxal 5'-phosphate 1.7 mg. These are the active, already converted forms of folate, B12 and B6, so the body does not have to make the conversion itself.
The usual adult dose is one capsule daily by mouth, with or without food. Take it as directed by your provider, and do not stop it without speaking with us first.
We prefer it. A homocysteine level, a B12, and an MTHFR variant check tell us whether the methylation pathway is where your problem actually is. Labs are drawn at Lakeview on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday mornings, and at Mandeville on Monday and Thursday mornings.
EB-C3 is allergen free and dye free and is designed to be added to an existing medication list, including cholinesterase inhibitors. Bring your full list to your appointment or send it to us and we will review it.
