EB-C3 is a medical food from EBM Medical, formulated for the dietary management of mild cognitive impairment and early memory loss. It is not a vitamin off a shelf. Medical foods are their own FDA category, and they are meant to be taken under the ongoing supervision of a physician.

Dr. Burkenstock uses EB-C3 for patients whose memory complaints track back to elevated homocysteine or to a methylation pathway that is not running the way it should, and as nutritional support alongside a cholinesterase inhibitor.

What Is in EB-C3

Each capsule supplies L-methylfolate calcium 6 mg, methylcobalamin 2 mg, N-acetyl-L-cysteine 600 mg, and pyridoxal 5'-phosphate 1.7 mg.

Those are the active, already converted forms. L-methylfolate is folate your body can use without the MTHFR conversion step. Methylcobalamin is active B12. P5P is active B6. Together they drive the methylation pathway that clears homocysteine. NAC is in the formula as a glutathione precursor, which is the antioxidant side of the equation.

Who EB-C3 Is For

EBM Medical lists three uses: mild cognitive impairment and early memory loss, use alongside a cholinesterase inhibitor, and elevated homocysteine.

If a homocysteine level has come back high, or you carry an MTHFR variant, or you have noticed the kind of memory slips that are more than ordinary, that is a conversation worth having in person. We can draw the labs at either office.

How to Take EB-C3

The usual adult dose is one capsule daily by mouth, with or without food. Take it as directed by your provider, and do not stop it without talking to us first.

EB-C3 is allergen free and dye free, and it is designed to be added to an existing medication list.

Why Order EB-C3 from Dr. Burkenstock's

A medical food needs a prescribing provider behind it, which is why EB-C3 is not in a pharmacy aisle. Ordering here keeps the product and your chart in the same place, with someone watching the numbers that made it the right choice.

We are the South's Hallmark Anti-Aging Institute, with offices in Lakeview and Mandeville and telemedicine seven days a week. Labs run at Lakeview on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday mornings, and at Mandeville on Monday and Thursday mornings.

Order EB-C3

Ship it, or choose local pickup at either office. If you are not yet a patient and want to know whether EB-C3 is right for you, call Lakeview at (504) 888-2829 or Mandeville at (985) 727-7676.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is EB-C3?

EB-C3 is a medical food from EBM Medical, formulated for the dietary management of mild cognitive impairment and early memory loss. It is used under the ongoing supervision of a physician, and it is also indicated as an adjunct to cholinesterase inhibitors and for patients with elevated homocysteine.

What is a medical food?

A medical food is its own FDA category, separate from both drugs and dietary supplements. It is formulated for the dietary management of a condition with distinctive nutritional requirements, and it is intended to be used under the ongoing supervision of a physician. That is why you will not find EB-C3 on a pharmacy shelf.

What is in EB-C3?

Each capsule supplies L-methylfolate calcium 6 mg, methylcobalamin 2 mg, N-acetyl-L-cysteine 600 mg, and pyridoxal 5'-phosphate 1.7 mg. These are the active, already converted forms of folate, B12 and B6, so the body does not have to make the conversion itself.

How do I take EB-C3?

The usual adult dose is one capsule daily by mouth, with or without food. Take it as directed by your provider, and do not stop it without speaking with us first.

Do I need lab work before starting EB-C3?

We prefer it. A homocysteine level, a B12, and an MTHFR variant check tell us whether the methylation pathway is where your problem actually is. Labs are drawn at Lakeview on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday mornings, and at Mandeville on Monday and Thursday mornings.

Can I take EB-C3 with my other medications?

EB-C3 is allergen free and dye free and is designed to be added to an existing medication list, including cholinesterase inhibitors. Bring your full list to your appointment or send it to us and we will review it.
